Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. When "Press Start" appears on the lower screen, the host taps anywhere on the lower screen or presses the Start button.
Downloading
1. The host taps "Multiplayer" (the second option from the top).
2. The host taps "Local Wireless" (the top option).
3. The host taps "DS Download Play" (the bottom option).
4. The guest will power on their Nintendo DS system.
5. The guest taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
6. When the graphic bar appears saying "WordJong Battle Mode", the guest taps on it.
7. The guest's DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
8. When the host's DS says that the guest is connected, the host taps "OK" in the bottom right corner of the screen.
1. The host taps "Multiplayer" (the second option from the top).
2. The host taps "Gift a puzzle" (the third option from the top).
3. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
4. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
5. When the graphic bar appears saying "WordJong Temple Challenge Gift", the guests tap on it.
6. The guest's DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
7. When the host's DS says that all guests trying to connect are connected, the host taps "OK" in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1. "No Drill Down" and ":45" will appear at the bottom of both players' screens; both options can be changed.
NOTE: In "Drill Down" play, a selected tile is removed the instant it's put into a word, freeing up other tiles for later in the word.
NOTE: In "No Drill Down" play, a selected tile remains on the word (only the letter is removed) until the word is complete, keeping other tiles blocked.
2. To toggle between the "No Drill Down" and "Drill Down" options, the host taps the words "No Drill Down" or "Drill Down" and they will swap.
3. To change the per-turn time limit, the host taps on the currently selected time.
4. Time limit options include :30, :45, :60, :75, :90, and No Timer.
5. The default time limit is :45.
(There are no selectable options in this mode.)
Game Controls / How To Play
1. Players take turn tapping on tiles to form words.
2. The player whose turn it is (denoted by the lit flame on the upper screen) taps on available (lit) tiles on the lower screen in order.
3. Upon completing a word, the player taps the "OK" ("Submit") button in the top right corner of the lower screen.
4. To clear the current tiles away, the player whose turn it is taps "Clear" on the right edge of the lower screen.
5. To back up one letter, the player whose turn it is taps "Back" on the right edge of the lower screen.
6. If the player whose turn it is cannot come up with a word, they can tap the "Pass" button in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
7. When one player passes, the other player my tap an available (lit) tile to remove it for a point before attempting a word.
8. A letter tile is word one point plus the number of red dots on the tile.
1. Tap on available (lite) tiles to form words.
2. Upon completing a word, tap the "OK" ("Submit") button in the top right corner of the lower screen.
3. To clear the current tiles away, tap "Clear" on the right edge of the lower screen.
4. To back up one letter, tap "Back" on the right edge of the lower screen.
5. A letter tile is word one point plus the number of red dots on the tile.
6. Jade (green) tiles multiply the point value of the word by two (2x).
7. Two jade tiles in the same word increase the multiplier by one (3x, 4x, etc.) but don't continue doubling it for each jad tile.
What To Look For
1. On the upper screen, the host's name and current point total is in the top left area of the screen.
2. On the upper screen, the guest's name and current point total is in the top right area of the screen.
3. On the upper screen, the flame will be lit up next to the point total of the player whose turn it currently is.
4. On the upper screen, the currently selected letters (the current word) is displayed along the bottom edge of the screen.
5. On the upper screen, the point value of the currently selected letters is displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen.
6. On the lower screen, the play area is the left 3/4 of the screen.
7. On the lower screen, the "OK ("Submit") button is in the top right corner of the screen.
8. On the lower screen, the "Clear" button (to clear out all currently selected letters) is beneath the "OK" ("Submit") button.
9. On the lower screen, the "Back" button is beneath the "Clear" button.
10. On the lower screen, the "Pass" button is in the bottom right corner of the screen.
1. On the upper screen, the current total score is displayed in the central right side of the screen.
2. On the upper screen, the currently selected letters (the current word) is displayed along the bottom edge of the screen.
3. On the upper screen, the point value of the currently selected letters is displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen.
4. On the lower screen, the play area is the left 3/4 of the screen.
5. On the lower screen, the "OK ("Submit") button is in the top right corner of the screen.
6. On the lower screen, the "Clear" button (to clear out all currently selected letters) is beneath the "OK" ("Submit") button.
7. On the lower screen, the "Back" button is beneath the "Clear" button.
Overall Goals
1. Have the most points at the end of two (2) rounds.
2. Outscore your opponent by thirty or more points.
1. Remove all tiles from the play area.
2. Score as many points as possible.
