Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. If this is the first time the game is played, a save file must be created.
3a. Tap on any of the three Blank Slots twice.
3b. The default name will be the name of the system it is in.
3c. To delete the current name (if desired), tap the backspace button in the top right corner of the lower screen's on-screen keyboard.
3d. To enter a new name (or to add characters to the current one), tap the lower screen's on-screen keyboard.
3e. For access to other symbols (non-letters/non-numbers), tap the button in the bottom left corner of the lower screen's on-screen keyboard.
3f. When the name is entered as desired as desired, tap the "A" in the bottom right corner of the lower screen or press the "A" button.
4. If a profile already exists, tap on the desired profile.
Downloading
1. The host taps "Play" (the top option).
2. The host taps "Multiplayer" (the third option from the top).
3. The host taps "Single-Card Play" (the third option from the top).
4. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
5. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
6. When the graphic bar appears saying "TrackMania DS", the guests tap on it.
7. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
8. An initial download will begin as each guest connects.
9. When all connected guests' initial downloads have completed, the host taps "A" in the bottom right corner of the lower screen or presses the "A" button.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1. An options screen will load on the host's lower screen.
2. To highlight an option, the host taps on the option so that the blue arrows appear to the left and right of the line the option's on.
3. To change the highlighted option, the host taps the blue arrows to the left or the right of the option or presses left or right on the direction pad.
4. Option #1 is the Game Mode.
4a. The choices are Time Attack (default), Championship, and Rounds.
4b. Game Mode Choice #1: Time Attack = A time limit is set and the fastest player to complete the track within the time limit wins; multiple attempts allowed.
4c. Game Mode Choice #2: Championship = A multiple-track race to see who can win the overall championship; races alternate between tracks.
4d. Game Mode Choice #3: Rounds = A single-track course raced repeatedly until the preset number of points is achieved per track; time limit for slowest racer.
5. Option #2 is the Play Limit/Win Conditions.
5a. For Time Attack, the variable will be the number of minutes.
5b. For Time Attack, the choices are 1, 2, 3 (default), 4, 5, or 6.
5c. For Championship, the variable will be the number of points needed for victory; the number is automatically set at 50.
5d. For Rounds, the variable will be the number of points needed for victory.
5e. For Rounds, the choices are 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 (default), 60, 70, 80, 90, or 100.
6. Option #3 is the Environment Type.
(The only selectable Environment Type option for Single-Card Play is Stadium.)
7. Option #4 is the Difficulty.
(The only selectable Difficulty option for Single-Card Play is Practice.)
8. Option #5 is the Challenge Order.
8a. The choices are Random, Select, or Sorted.
8b. Challenge Order Choice #1: Random = The order is randomly selected.
8c. Challenge Order Choice #2: Select = The host selects the order.
8d. Challenge Order Choice #3: Sorted = The order is selected.
9. Once all of the options aqre set as desired, the host presses the "A" button to begin the final part of the download and the race.
Game Controls / How To Play
1. Accelerate: Press the "A" button.
2. Brake/Reverse: Press the "B" button.
3. Steer: Press any direction on the direction pad.
4. Pause: Press the Start button.
5. Change The Camera Angle: Press the Select button.
6. Return To The Last Checkpoint: Press the "X" button.
7. Return To The Starting Point: Press the "Y" button.
8. Honk The Horn: Press the "R" button.
What To Look For
1. On the upper screen, the race is displayed.
2. On the lower screen, the current track (and its creator) are displayed in the top left corner.
3. On the lower screen, the amount of time elapsed so far in the current attempt is in the top right corner.
4. On the lower screen, the amount of time remaininging is near the top left corner beneath the time elapsed.
5. On the lower screen, the best lap time (so far) for each player is shown in the bottom half of the screen.
1. On the upper screen, the race is displayed.
2. On the lower screen, the current track (and its creator) are displayed in the top left corner.
