Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. The first time the game is played, the game will automatically create a save file.
NOTE: The host presses the "A" button When "Data saved. Press the A Button." appear on the lower screen.
4. When "Start Game" appears on the lower screen, the host presses the "A" button.
5. If this is the first time the game is played, a profile must be set up.
5a. The host selects a gender for their avatar by pressing up or down on the Direction Pad.
NOTE: The choices are Male, Female, and Other.
5b. The host confirms their gender choice by pressing the "A" button.
5c. The host selects a face for their avatar by pressing up, down, left, or right on the Direction Pad.
NOTE: There are five face options for each gender (Male, Female, and Other).
5d. The host confirms their face choice by pressing the "A" button.
5e. The host confirms their gender and face one final time by pressing the "A" button.
6. The host presses the "A" button with "Start Game" highlighted to access the main menu.
Downloading
1. At the main menu, the host presses down on the Driection pad twice (to highlight "DS Download Play").
2. The host presses the "A" button.
3. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
4. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
5. When the graphic bar appears saying "Tetris Party Deluxe", the guests tap on it.
6. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
7. When the host's DS says that all guests trying to connect are connected, the host presses the "A" button.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1. The host selects a game mode by pressing left or right on the Direction Pad.
1a. When playing with exactly 2 people, the game mode options are "VS Battle" and "Co-op Tetris".
1b. When playing with 3 to 8 people, the only game mode option is "VS Battle".
2. The host then accepts their game mode selection by pressing the "A" button.
3. If the host selected VS Battle:
3a. To highlight a setting, press up or down on the Direction pad until it's highlighted.
3b. To change a setting, press right or left on the Direction pad until it's set as desired.
3c. The Auto Handicap setting choices are OFF (default) or ON.
3d. The Penalty setting choices are Normal (default) or Slide.
3e. The Item setting choices are ON (default) or OFF.
3f. When all of these settings are set as desired, the host presses the Start button.
3g. The Team Battle setting choices are Blue (default), Green, Yellow, Purple, MintGreen, Orange, SkyBlue, or Red.
3g1. Each player selects their own Team Battle flag color.
3g2. At least two different flag colors must be selected among the players.
3h. The Handicap setting choices are ON (default) or OFF.
3h1. If the Auto Handicap feature was selected as ON, this feature will not appear.
3h2. Each players sets their own Handicap setting.
3i. When each player finishes setting their color and Handicap, they highlight "Play" and press the "A" button.
3j. When all players have selected "Play" and pressed the "A" button, the game begins.
4. If the host selected Co-op Tetris:
4a. To highlight a setting, press up or down on the Direction pad until it's highlighted.
4b. To change a setting, press right or left on the Direction pad until it's set as desired.
4c. The Endless setting choices are OFF (default) or ON.
4d. The Starting LVL setting choices are any number 1 (default) through 15.
4e. When all of these settings are set as desired, the host presses the Start button.
Game Controls / How To Play
NOTE: A "tetromino" is the proper name for a Tetris piece.
1. Move the tetromino left: Press left on the Direction pad.
2. Move the tetromino right: Press right on the Direction pad.
3. Drop the tetromino one level: Press down on the Direction pad.
4. Drop the tetromino to the bottom (instantly): Press up on the Direction Pad.
5. Rotate the tetromino left: Press the "B" button.
6. Rotate the tetromino right: Press the "A" button.
7. Swap a tetromino with the one in the hold box: Press the "L" or "R" button.
NOTE: If there is not yeat a tetromino in the held box, the current one will be placed there.
8. Use the next item: Press the "X" button.
NOTE: Items are only used in "VS Battle" mode if Items are set to "ON" (see above).
9. Send over junk lines: Successfully remove lines on your own system.
What To Look For
When playing VS Battle mode:
1. On the upper screen, opponents' game boards are shown.
2. On the lower screen, your gameboard is in the center of the screen.
3. On the lower screen, the hold area is at the top left corner of the lower screen.
4. On the lower screen, the incoming lines of junk are marked between the two red lines at the left of your gameboard.
5. On the lower screen, the next 5 tetrominoes (top to bottom) are at the top right corner of your gameboard.
6. On the lower screen, the next 3 items available (top to bottom) are in the top right corner of the screen.
When playing Co-op Teris mode:
1. On the upper screen, the current and high scores are on the middle right side of the screen.
2. On the upper screen, the current time elapsed is below the current and high scores.
3. On the lower screen, the gameboard is in the center of the screen.
4. On the lower screen, the hold area is at the top left corner of the lower screen.
5. On the lower screen, the host's next 5 tetrominoes (top to bottom) below the hold area.
6. On the lower screen, the guest's next 5 tetrominoes (top to bottom) are to the right of the gameboard.
7. On the lower screen, the current level is shown in the bottom left corner.
8. On the lower screen, the number of lines completed so far are in the bottom right corner.
Overall Goals
1. VS Battle: Cause your opponent to lose by sending over junk lines.
2. Co-op Tetris (Endless OFF): Try to clear 150 lines with a record low time.
3. Co-op Tetris (Endless ON): Try to achieve a new record high score.
