Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
Downloading
1. The host taps on "Multiplayer" (the second bar from the top).
2. After "Multiplayer" is highlighted, the host taps it again.
3. The host taps "Invite" (the top bar; should already be highlighted).
4. There are three downloadable Tetris modes...
5. The first downloadable Tetris mode is "Standard" mode:
5a. The host taps "Standard" (the top bar).
5b. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
5c. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
5d. When the graphic bar appears saying "Tetris DS", the guests tap on it.
5e. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
5f. When the host's DS says that all guests trying to connect are connected, the host presses the "A" button.
6. The second downloadable Tetris mode is "Mission" mode:
6a. The host taps "Mission" (the middle bar).
6b. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
6c. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
6d. When the graphic bar appears saying "Tetris DS", the guests tap on it.
6e. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
6f. When the host's DS says that all guests trying to connect are connected, the host presses the "A" button.
7. The third downloadable Tetris mode is "Push" mode:
7a. The host taps "Push" (the bottom bar).
7b. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
7c. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
7d. When the graphic bar appears saying "Tetris DS", the guests tap on it.
7e. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
7f. When the host's DS says that all guests trying to connect are connected, the host presses the "A" button.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1. Only the host can determine whether items are set to "On" or "Off" (the setting applies to all players equally).
2. To change the Items setting, the host tap "On" on the Items bar.
3. Each player can select their own handicap setting by tapping on the number (1 through 5) on the Handicap bar that they want their difficulty set to.
NOTE: The lower the number, the easier the game.
4. Each player can select their team affiliation (or choose not to have a team affiliation) by tapping a character (or the word "Off") on the team bar.
NOTE: All players cannot select the same team. If they do, all players will be put back into options mode until different teams are selected.
5. Once each player has highlighted the settings of their choice, they press the "A" button.
6. After all players have pressed the "A" button, the game will begin.

2. To change the number of Missions (10, 20, or 30), the host taps the desired number on the Missions bar.
NOTE: The more missions that are selected, the longer the game will take to play.
3. Each player can select their own handicap setting by tapping on the number (1 through 5) on the Handicap bar that they want their difficulty set to.
NOTE: The lower the number, the easier the game.
4. Once each player has highlighted the settings of their choice, they press the "A" button.

Game Controls / How To Play
1. Your main goal in Standard Tetris is to complete horizontal lines without any gaps.
2. To move you Tetris pieces (Tetriminos) left or right, press left or right on the direction pad.
NOTE: Tetriminos can be moved for a brief time after they touch down, before they're locked in, but cannot be moved up.
3. To drop your Tetriminos faster, press down on the direction pad.
4. To drop your Tetriminos instantaneously (a hard drop), press up on the direction pad.
5. To rotate your Tetriminos clockwise, press the "A" button.
6. To rotate your Tetriminos counter-clockwise, press the "B" button.
7. Tetris DS features a Hold Queue...
7a. The Hold Queue allows a player to store a Tetrimino and swap it out later for the current piece (at the time).
7b. When the game begins, there will not be a Tetrimino in the Hold Queue.
7c. When a Tetrimino is in play (but not touched down) and you want to save it for later, press the "L" or "R" button.
7d. The Tetrimino will then be displayed in the Hold Queue (the top left corner of the lower screen).
7e. Later, if you don't want the current Tetrimino and would rather have the Tetrimino that is in the Hold Queue, press the "L" or "R" button again.
7f. When you do this, the Tetrimino you didn't want will go into the Hold Queue and the Tetrimino that was in the Hold Queue will come into play.
7g. You cannot switch with the Tetrimino in the Hold Queue more than once before locking in the next piece.
8. If Items are set to On, the items will work in the following way...
8a. A "Question Mark Block" will randomly replace a piece of one of the Tetriminos.
8b. If you clear the line that contains the Question Mark Block, you have earned the item.
8c. The item within the Question Mark Block will be randomly selected.
8d. The item that is awarded will appear in an item box, located below the Hold Queue box in the upper left corner of the lower screen.
8e. To activate the item, either tap the item box or press the "X" button.
1. Your main goal in Mission Tetris is to complete the goals presented to you.
NOTE: The number of goals you'll have to complete will be equal to the number of missions selected before the game begins.
2. To move you Tetris pieces (Tetriminos) left or right, press left or right on the direction pad.
NOTE: Tetriminos can be moved for a brief time after they touch down, before they're locked in, but cannot be moved up.

7. Mission-specific information...
7a. Your goal for the current mission is displayed in the bottom right quarter of the upper screen, along with that mission's point value.
7b. The mission number (#1, #2, etc.) will be displayed in the bottom left corner of the lower screen.
7c. Both players' point totals are located in the top center of the upper screen.
7d. Both players will be attempting the same goal at the same time and only the first player to complete the mission receives the points.
7e. If your stack of Tetriminos extends off the top of the screen, the screen will clear and you will lose 20 points.
NOTE: Your point total can go into the negative numbers (but not below -100).
7f. Each mission has a time limit.
7g. When the time limit runs out, the mission is considered to have been failed by all players and nobody gets the points.
7h. A countdown (until the mission expires) is located in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
7i. The countdown is displayed as a series af hearts that start out red and slowly empty.
8. Tetris DS features a Hold Queue...
8a. The Hold Queue allows a player to store a Tetrimino and swap it out later for the current piece (at the time).
8b. When the game begins, there will not be a Tetrimino in the Hold Queue.
8c. When a Tetrimino is in play (but not touched down) and you want to save it for later, press the "L" or "R" button.
8d. The Tetrimino will then be displayed in the Hold Queue (the top left corner of the lower screen).
8e. Later, if you don't want the current Tetrimino and would rather have the Tetrimino that is in the Hold Queue, press the "L" or "R" button again.
8f. When you do this, the Tetrimino you didn't want will go into the Hold Queue and the Tetrimino that was in the Hold Queue will come into play.

2. To move you Tetris pieces (Tetriminos) left or right, press left or right on the direction pad.

7. Push-specific information...
7a. All of your gameplay will take place on your upper screen.
7b. Your opponent's gameplay will take place on your lower screen.
7c. Two gray blocks will be "floting" in the center of the board.
7d. As you drop Tetriminos, you'll need to attach them to these blocks to start completing horizontal lines and pushing the board at your opponent.
7e. If your Tetrimino misses the gray blocks (and all other blocks attached to them), it'll drop off your opponent's end of the board.
7f. Tetriminos that are dropped through to your opponent's side of the board cannot affect the pieces your opponent is maneuvering.
7g. When the pile of Tetriminos push off a player's side of the board, that player loses.

What To Look For
1. On the upper screen, all players' playing fields are displayed.
2. On the lower screen, your Hold Queue is located in the top left corner.
3. On the lower screen, your Item Box is located just below your Hold Queue (only if Items are set to On).
4. On the lower screen, your upcoming Tetriminos are displayed in the top right corner.
5. On the lower screen, blocks being sent your way from an opponent are previewed in the "New Blocks" box in the bottom right corner.
1. On the upper screen, all players' scores are displayed in the top center of the screen.
2. On the upper screen, the goal (and its point value) is shown in the bottom right corner of the screen.
3. On the upper screen, an example of how to complete the mission will be demonstrated (repeatedly) in the bottom left corner.
4. On the lower screen, your Hold Queue is in the top left corner.
5. On the lower screen, the current Mission number is located in the bottom left corner.
6. On the lower screen, your upcoming Tetriminos are displayed in the top right corner.
7. On the lower screen, the time remaining in the current Mission is displayed in the bottom right corner (the hearts).
8. On the lower screen, the number of lines remaining in the current goal (when applicable) is shown above the hearts that denote the time remaining.
1. On the upper screen, your Hold Queue is located in the top left corner.
2. On the upper screen, your upcoming Tetriminos are displayed in the top right corner.
3. On the lower screen, your opponent's Hold Queue is located in the bottom left corner.
4. On the lower screen, your opponent's upcoming Tetriminos are displayed in the bottom right corner.
Overall Goals
1. Standard Tetris: Complete horizontal lines.
2. Standard Tetris: Complete the lines in large enough bunches that you send additional chunks to your opponents' screens.
3. Standard Tetris: Don't let the Tetriminos push off the top of the screen.
4. Mission Tetris: Complete the most missions to score the most points.
5. Mission Tetris: Don't let time run out.
6. Mission Tetris: Don't let the Tetriminos push off the top of the screen.
7. Push Tetris: Create a platform using Tetriminos.
8. Push Tetris: Complete horizontal lines.
9. Push Tetris: Push the playing field off your opponent's side of the board.
