Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
Downloading
1. The host taps on "Multiplayer" (the second option from the top).
2. The host taps on "Race" (the top option).
3. The host taps on "Create Group" (the only option).
4. The host taps on "Single-Card Play" (the bottom option).
5. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
6. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
7. When the graphic bar appears saying "Super Speed Machines", the guests tap on it.
8. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
9. When the host's DS says that all guests trying to connect are connected, the host taps "Close Group" in the bottom half of the screen.
10. The host then confirms by tapping "Yes" (the top option).
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1. The host taps on either "Single Race" or "Grand Prix" (a Grand Prix in the game is a course of three different races).
1a. Initially, only one Grand Prix option -- and the three Single Race options that make it up -- will be available to race on.
1b. Other Grand Prix options become available as they are unlocked in the main single player Grand Prix mode.
2. If the host tapped on "Single Race"...
2a. The host taps on the location of their choice (available options while be in color).

2b. The host taps on the race of their choice.
2c. The host taps on the car of their choice.
2c1. Players have a time limit of 30 seconds to select their car.
2c2. The available car options (in order) are: Rally, 4x4, Sports, Muscle, Custom, and Classic.
2c3. To preview the cars, press up or down on the Direction Pad and the currently-highlighted car will be displayed.
2d. Before the race begins, each racer plants a hazard.
2d1. Two different choices will be shown on the screen; each player taps on their choice.
2d2. Each player then taps on the blinking "!" sign on the map to choose a location for the hazard from the list.
2d3. Players confirm their choice by pressing the "A" button or tapping in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
2d4. Players then select which lap they want their hazard to begin in by tapping the desired lap number.
2d5. Players confirm their choice by pressing the "A" button or tapping in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
3. If the host tapped on "Single Race"...
3a. The host taps on the Grand Prix of their choice (available options while be in color).

3b. The host taps on the race of their choice.
3c. The host taps on the car of their choice.

Game Controls / How To Play
1. Accelerate: Press the "A" button.
2. Brake/Reverse: Press the "B" button.
3. Steer: Press left or right on the Direction Pad.
4. Drift: Press the "L" or "R" button.
What To Look For
1. On the upper screen, each player's current rank will be displayed in the top left corner.
2. On the upper screen, each player's current lap number is displayed in the top right corner.
3. On the upper screen, each player's current speed is represented in the bottom right corner.
4. On the lower screen, each player (1 through 4) is listed (by current rank) along the left side of the screen (along with their map icon).
5. On the lower screen, each player's own map icon is shown in the bottom left corner.
6. On the lower screen, the current time elapsed so far (all laps combined) is shown in the top right corner.
7. On the lower screen, each player's current location is shown on the map.
Overall Goals
2. Don't be affected by the hazards.
