Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. When the monkey appears on the host's lower screen saying "Touch me!" (no joke), the host taps the lower screen.
Downloading
1. The host taps the middle ball (Multiplayer) twice.
2. The host taps the far right ball (DS Download Play) twice.
3. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
4. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
5. When the graphic bar appears saying "SUPER MONKEY BALL Touch & Roll", the guests tap on it.
6. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
7. When the host's DS says that all guests trying to connect are connected, the host taps the screen-width red bar in the center of the screen.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
There are three playable Single-Card Download games...
1a. To select Monkey Race, tap twice on the ball with the car in it (top row, far left).
1b. Preselected Setting: course=Alpine, laps=3, computer=ON, items=ON, handicap=ON
2a. To select Monkey Hockey, tap twice on the ball with the air hockey board in it (bottom row, far left).
2b. Preselected Setting: game=Classic, points required=5, number of wins=1, first serve=Player 1, items=ON
3a. To select Monkey Wars, tap twice on the laser pistol (bottom row, center).
3b. Preselected Setting: time=3 Minutes, radar=ON, computer=ON
Game Controls / How To Play
1a. Touch the lower screen with the stylus above your monkey's head, near the top center of the screen.
1b. If you move the stylus up (toward the top edge of the screen), your monkey will speed up.
1c. If you move the stylus down (toward the center of the screen), your monkey will slow down.
1d. If you move the stylus left (toward the left edge of the screen), your monkey will move left.
1e. If you move the stylus right (toward the right edge of the screen), your monkey will move right.
1f. If you hit an item box with your monkey ball, you'll pick up a random item.
1g. In the top right corner of the lower screen, the item's you've picked up will be displayed.
1h. To activate the item in the top box, press up on the direction pad.
1i. To activate the item in the bottom box, press down on the direction pad.
1j. To activate the item in the left box, press left on the direction pad.
1k. To activate the item in the right box, press right on the direction pad.
2a. If there are fewer than four players, computer characters will be added in to a total of four.
2b. Touch your paddle with the stylus.
2c. Move the stylus in any direction (without lifting it from the lower screen) to move the paddle to the same location.
2d. Whenever a player's paddle hits the ball, the paddle changes colors to match the color of the last player that hit it.
2e. Item zones are in the four corners of the board.
2f. If the ball is hit into an active item zone, the item in the zone is picked up by the last player to hit the ball (determined by the color of the ball).
3a. Press up on the direction pad to move forward.
3b. Press down on the direction pad to move backward.
3c. Press left on the direction pad to move to the left.
3d. Press right on the direction pad to move to the right.
3e. Drag the stylus along the Turn Panel at the bottom of the lower screen to spin the direction your character is looking to the left or the right.
3f. To shoot, tap on the lower screen where you want to shoot.
3g. To pick up an item, walk into it.
What To Look For
1a. On the upper screen, the name of the current course is in the top left corner.
1b. On the upper screen, the current lap time is in the top right corner.
1c. On the upper screen, the current race order is listed along the left edge of the screen.
1d. On the upper screen, a map of the course is located in the center of the screen.
1e. On the upper screen, the current lap number (and the total number of laps) is displayed in the bottom right corner.
1f. On the lower screen, your current speed is displayed in the top left corner.
1g. On the lower screen, your total time is displayed in the top center of the screen.
1h. On the lower screen, the items you currently posses (along with how to activate them) is displayed in the top right corner.
1i. On the lower screen, your current ranking is displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen.
2a. On the upper screen, your opponent's score is located in the top right corner of the screen.
2b. On the upper screen, your score is located in the bottom right corner of the screen.
2c. Item zones (when active) are located in the circles in the top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right corners of the playing field.
3a. On the upper screen, the map of the field is in the center of the screen.
3b. On the upper screen, each player's life meter and points scored are displayed along the bottom edge of the screen.
3c. On the upper screen, the amount of time remaining is displayed in the bottom center of the screen.
3d. On the lower screen, your life meter is displayed along the top edge of the screen.
3e. On the lower screen, your points scored so far are displayed in the top right corner.
3f. On the lower screen, your current weapon and remaining ammo are displayed (when applicable) on the left center of the screen.
3g. On the lower screen, the Turn Panel is located along the bottom edge of the screen.
Overall Goals
1. Monkey Race: Drive the fastest and most accurately.
2. Monkey Race: Win the race.
3. Monkey Hockey: Score goals.
4. Monkey Hockey: Prevent your opponent from scoring goals.
5. Monkey Wars: Don't get shot and destroyed.
6. Monkey Wars: Shoot and destroy your opponents.
