Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. When the water appears, the host taps anywhere on the lower screen.
4. When "Press START" appears on the lower screen, the host can press the Start button or tap anywhere on the lower screen.
5. To skip the animated introductions, the host can press Start three times in a row. (It will only appear the first time the game is played.)
6. Play through the Training Level (see below in "Game Controls / How To Play" for direct play instructions), heading right until you pass the treasure chest.
7. At the "Act Clear!" screen, press the "A" button.
8. Press Start to skip the cut scene animation.
Downloading
1. The host makes Sonic walk through the door on the right side of the room.
2. The host makes Sonic walk up to the computer terminal in the back right corner of the room, then presses the "A" button.
3. The host taps on "DS Download Play" (the second option from the top).
4. The host then selects "Race" (the top option) or "Collect Rings" (the bottom option).
4a. The game describes Race by saying: "Whoever reaches the goal first is the winner."
4b. The game describes Collect Rings by saying: "Whoever collects the most rings is the winner."
5. The guest will power on their Nintendo DS system.
6. The guest taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
7. When the graphic bar appears saying "Sonic Rush Adventure", the guest taps on it.
8. The guest's DS system will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
9. When "OK" appears in the center of the lower screen, the host taps on it.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1. Players begins by selecting their character.
1a. One player will play as Sonic and the other will play as Blaze.
1b. After either player locks in a choice, the other player must play as the other character.
2. Next, players each select their choice for playable levels
2a. The choices of location for "Race" are Hidden Island (R-1), Hidden Island (R-s), and Hidden Island (R-3) (they appear in that order).
2b. The choices of location for "Collect Rings" are Plant Kingdom, Machine Labyrinth, Coral Cave, and Haunted Ship (they appear in that order).
2c. To change between locations, tap the arrows to the left and right of the currently-highlighted stage's name or press left and right on the direction pad.
2d. To select the current stage, tap "Vs." (below the stage name) or press the "A" button.
2e. If players select different stages, the game will randomly select one of the two chosen stages.
2f. To defer to your opponent's choice, tap "Opponent's Choice" along the bottom edge of the lower screen.
2g. If both players select "Opponent's Choice" instead of a preferred stage, the game will randomly select one of the four available stages.
3. The guest will then download the chosen stage and the game will begin.
Game Controls / How To Play
1. Basic Movement: Use the direction pad to move left and right.
2. Jump: Press the "B" button or the "A" button.
3. Spin Dash/Burst Dash: Press and hold down on the direction pad, press the "B" button, and then release the direction pad.
4. Trick Action: After jumping from a spring, press the "B" button while in midair and then press the "A" button.
NOTE: This move charges up your Tension Gauge.
5. Hop Jump: After jumping from a spring, press up on the direction pad and the "R" button.
6. Jump Dash/Burst Hover: After jumping from a spring, press the "R" button.
7. Super Boost/Fire Boost: While pressing right (or left) on the direction pad, press the "Y" button.
NOTE: This move requires at least a partial charge on your Tension Gauge to be performed.
What To Look For
1. Race: On the screen your character is on, your current number of rings is located in the top left corner if the screen.
2. Race: On the screen your character is on, your current lap number (out of five) is displayed to the right of your ring count.
3. Race: On the screen your character is on, your current time is displayed to the right of your current lap number.
4. Race: On the screen your character is on, your current rank (out of two) is displayed in the upper right corner of the screen.
5. Race: On the screen your character is on, your character's Tension Gauge is located along the left edge of the screen.
6. Race: On the screen your character is on, your character's portrait is displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen.
1. Collect Rings: On the upper screen, your current number of rings is located in the top left corner if the screen.
2. Collect Rings: On the upper screen, your current time is displayed to the right of your current lap number.
3. Collect Rings: On the upper screen, your current rank (out of two) is displayed in the upper right corner of the screen.
4. Collect Rings: On the upper screen, your character's Tension Gauge is located along the left edge of the screen.
5. Collect Rings: On the upper screen, your character's portrait is displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Overall Goals
1. Race: Complete five laps.
2. Race: Beat your opponent's time.
3. Collect Rings: Collect as many rings as possible.
4. Collect Rings: Make sure you have more rings than your opponent.
5. Collect Rings: Attack your opponent and take their rings.
