Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. When "Touch Screen To Continue" appears on the lower screen, the host may tap anywhere on the lower screen.
Downloading
1. The host presses right on the direction pad (or taps on the blue arrow pointing to the right near the top edge of the lower screen) to highlight the "2 Player Game" option.
2. The host taps on the icon with the two players in it or press the "A" button.
3. The host presses right on the direction pad twice (or taps on the blue arrow pointing to the right near the top edge of the lower screen twice) to highlight the "Single-Card Play" option.
4. The host taps on the icon with one large antenna in it or press the "A" button.
5. The guest will power on their Nintendo DS system.
6. The guest taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
7. When the graphic bar appears saying "Power Play Pool", the guest taps on it.
8. The guest's DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1. The download contains both a single-player Demo and a multiplayer Vs option.
2. When "Touch Screen To Continue" appears on the lower screen, the guest may tap anywhere on the lower screen.
3. To play a single-player Demo...
3a. On the lower screen, "1 Player Game" will already be selected; tap the icon with the one person's outline or presses the "A" button.
3b. Next, select a character.
NOTE: Different characters do not - in any way - alter a player's abilities or how the game plays.
3c. When the desired character is highlighted, tap on the character's face (center of the screen) or their name (bottom center of the screen) or press the "A" button.
3d. Next, select which game of pool will be played.
3e. The options are (in order): UK 8 Ball, US 8 Ball, US 9 Ball, Killer.
NOTE: For a list of breakdown of the differences in the different pool games, see below.
3f. To select the desired game of pool, press left or right on the direction pad (or tap the blue arrows on the top edge or the lower screen).
3g. Once the desired game of pool is highlighted, tap on its icon (center of the screen) or its name (bottom center of the screen) or press the "A" button.
3h. Finally, decide on the number of games that will make up the match (the choices are One Game, Best Of Three Games, and Best Of Five Games)./UL>
3i. To select the desired number of games, press left or right on the direction pad (or tap the blue arrows on the top edge or the lower screen).
3j. Once the desired number of games is highlighted, tap on its icon (center of the screen) or its name (bottom center of the screen) or press the "A" button.
4. To play a two-player wireless game via SingleCard Download, the host will need to do the following...
4a. On the lower screen, "1 Player Game" will be selected.
4b. Press right on the direction pad (or tap on the blue arrow pointing to the right near the top edge of the lower screen) to highlight the "2 Player Game" option.
4c. Tap on the icon with two peoples' outlines in it or press the "A" button.
4d. Press right on the direction pad (or tap on the blue arrow pointing to the right near the top edge of the lower screen) to highlight the "Multiplayer" option.
4e. Tap on the icon with two antennas in it or press the "A" button.
4f. Next, select a character.
NOTE: Different characters do not - in any way - alter a player's abilities or how the game plays.
4g. When the desired character is highlighted, tap on the character's face (center of the screen) or their name (bottom center of the screen) or press the "A" button.
4h. The guest then taps on "Host Game" or "Join Game" on the left side of the lower screen.
NOTE: It doesn't matter whether the who hosts the game and who joins as long as one player does each.
4i. If the guest is hosting the game, they select which game of pool will be played.
4j. The options are (in order): UK 8 Ball, US 8 Ball, US 9 Ball, Killer.

4q. The player that is joining the game taps on "Join Game" on the left side of the lower screen.
4r. The joining player should see the name of the game already highlighted (and blinking). To select it, the joining player presses the "A" button.
5. To play a two-player wireless game via Single-Card Download, a guest will need to do the following...
NOTE: This game can be played as a Single-Card Download versus Single-Card Download game, without the host (owner) involved.
5a. On the lower screen, "1 Player Game" will be selected.
5b. Press right on the direction pad (or tap on the blue arrow pointing to the right near the top edge of the lower screen) to highlight the "2 Player Game" option.
5c. Tap on the icon with two peoples' outlines in it or press the "A" button.
5d. Press right on the direction pad (or tap on the blue arrow pointing to the right near the top edge of the lower screen) to highlight the "Multiplayer" option.
5e. Tap on the icon with two antennas in it or press the "A" button.
5f. Next, select a character.

Game Controls / How To Play
2. Drop The Ball (after an opponent hits a scratch shot): "A" button
3. Move The Ball (after an opponent hits a scratch shot): Direction pad
4. Move The Angle (Large Rotation): Left and Right on the direction pad (or drag the cue stick around the cue ball on the lower screen)
4. Move The Angle (Small Rotation): "L" and "R" buttons
5. Change Shot Power: Up and Down on the direction pad (or tap the Shot Power bar in the bottom right corner of the lower screen)
6. "Spin Mode": Press and hold the "B" button
6a. Spin Mode allows a player to hit different parts of the cue ball (not just in the center of it) in order to add different types of spin.
6b. While in Spin Mode, move the shot target by pressing a direction on the direction pad or dragging the target around the cue ball.
Individual Pool Game Rules & Differences
1a. Number Of Object Balls: 15 (7 red, 7 yellow, and 1 black 8-Ball)
1b. Object Ball Racking/Patterns: racked into a triangle with the 8-Ball in the center
1c. Object Ball Selection: Taking turns, the first player to pocket a red or yellow ball is assigned that color of Object Balls.
1d. Turn-Taking: When a turn goes by and a player hasn't pocketed one of their Object Balls without scratching/fouling, their turn is over.
1e. Scratching/Fouling Condition: when the cue (white) ball is pocketed
1f. Scratching/Fouling Condition: when a player hits one of their opponents' Object Balls with the cue (white) ball before hitting their own
1g. Scratching/Fouling Recourse: When an opponent fouls, a player can place the cue (white) ball and take two free shots; the first shot can be a free table.
NOTE: A "free table" means that a player can pocket one of their opponent's Object Balls on the first free shot if it will help them.
1h. Instant Loss Condition(s): If a player pockets the 8-Ball before all Object Balls of their color, they lose the game.
1i. Win Condition(s): The first player to pocket all of their Object Balls and then the 8-Ball wins the game.
1a. Number Of Object Balls: 15 (7 solid, 7 striped, and 1 black 8-Ball)
1b. Object Ball Racking/Patterns: racked into a triangle with the 8-Ball in the center
1c. Object Ball Selection: Taking turns, the first player to pocket a solid or striped ball is assigned that pattern of Object Balls.
1d. Turn-Taking: When a turn goes by and a player hasn't pocketed one of their Object Balls without scratching/fouling, their turn is over.
1e. Scratching/Fouling Condition: when the cue (white) ball is pocketed
1f. Scratching/Fouling Condition: when a player hits one of their opponents' Object Balls with the cue (white) ball before hitting their own
1g. Scratching/Fouling Recourse: When an opponent fouls, a player can place the cue (white) ball
1h. Instant Loss Condition(s): If a player pockets the 8-Ball before all Object Balls of their pattern, they lose the game.
1i. Win Condition(s): The first player to pocket all of their Object Balls and then the 8-Ball wins the game.
1a. Number Of Object Balls: 9 (numbered 1 through 9)
1b. Object Ball Racking/Patterns: racked into a diamond pattern with the 9-Ball in the center
1c. Object Ball Selection: Taking turns, players aim to hit the lowest-numbered Object ball on the table with the cue (white) ball.
1d. Object Ball Selection: The order that the balls are pocketed doesn't matter, as long ass the first Object Ball hit by the cue (white) ball each turn is the lowest numbered.
1e. Turn-Taking: When a turn goes by and a player hasn't legally pocketed an Object Ball without scratching/fouling, their turn is over.
1f. Scratching/Fouling Condition: when the cue (white) ball is pocketed
1g. Scratching/Fouling Condition: when a player hits an Object Ball (other than the lowest numbered one) with the cue (white) ball before hitting their own
1h. Scratching/Fouling Recourse: When an opponent fouls, a player can place the cue (white) ball
1i. Instant Loss Condition(s): (none)
1j. Win Condition(s): The first player to legally pocket the 9-Ball wins the game.
1a. Number Of Object Balls: 15 (all of which are solid red)
1b. Object Ball Racking/Patterns: racked into a triangle
1c. Object Ball Selection: Taking turns, players take one shot (and only one shot) per turn in an attempt to sink any Object Ball.
1d. Turn-Taking: In a given turn, if a player does not sink a ball, they lose a lifve (players begin with eight lives).
1e. Turn-Taking: If both players have lives left and all the balls have been pocketed, the balls are reracked.
1f. Scratching/Fouling Condition: when the cue (white) ball is pocketed
1g. Scratching/Fouling Condition: when a fails to pocket an Object Ball
1h. Scratching/Fouling Recourse: When an player fouls, they lose one of their lives.
1i. Instant Loss Condition(s): (none)
1j. Win Condition(s): The last player to still have at least one of their lives remaining when their opponent runs out of lives is the winner.
What To Look For
1. On the upper screen, a bird's-eye view of the table is shown.
2. On the upper screen, the profile of the player whose turn it is will be displayed in one of the top corners of the screen.
3. On the upper screen, the Object Ball(s) that a player needs to target next will be displayed next to their character's profile (UK 8 Ball, US 8 Ball, US 9 Ball).
3. On the upper screen, the number of lives you have remaining will be displayed next to the character's profile (Killer).
4. On the lower screen, an overhead view of the table is shown.
5. On the lower screen, the current power level of the shot is displayed in the bottom right corner.
6. On the lower screen, the Spin Mode button is on the far right edge of the power meter.
7. On the lower screen, the pause button (to pause the game and access the menu) is in the bottom center.
Overall Goals
1. UK 8 Ball: The first player to pocket all of their Object Balls and then the 8-Ball wins the game.
2. US 8 Ball: The first player to pocket all of their Object Balls and then the 8-Ball wins the game.
3. US 9 Ball: The first player to legally pocket the 9-Ball wins the game.
4. Killer: The last player to still have at least one of their lives remaining when their opponent runs out of lives is the winner.
