Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. When "Touch Screen To Continue" appears on the lower screen, the host taps anywhere on the lower screen or presses the "A" button.
4. If this is the first time the game has been played, the host will have to enter a name for a save file.
4a. The host enters a name by tapping on the on-screen keyboard.
4b. When the name is entered as desired, the host taps "OK" beneath the on-screen keyboard.
5. The host taps the profile they wish to use.
Downloading & Game.Feature/Options Selection
1. The host taps "Play" (the top option).
2. The host taps "Multiplayer" (the middle option).
3. The host taps "Single Card" (the top option).
4. The host taps "Tournament" (the top option) or "Sprint" (the middle option).
4a. "Tournament" involves bowling a ten frame game to see who achieves the highest score.
4b. "Sprint" involves players bowling to see who can be the first player to achieve a score of 150.
5. The host selects a lane to play on (from those available) by tapping on the arrows in the top left corner of the lower screen.
6. The host chooses "Power Bowl" (already selected) or "Straight Bowl" (the host taps the check box in the bottom right corner of the lower screen to select this).
6a. "Power Bowling" involves enhancements and power-ups.
6b. "Straight Bowling" does not have enhancements or power-ups.
7. The host taps "OK" in the top right corner of the lower screen.
8. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
9. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
10. When the graphic bar appears saying "PolarBowler", the guests tap on it.
11. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
12. When the host's DS says that all guests trying to connect are connected, the host taps the now-brown "Upload" panel near the top right corner of the lower screen.
13. When the upload is compltet, the host taps "Start" near the top right corner of the lower screen.
14. Players each select a character to bowl with (from those available) by tapping on the arrows in the top left corner of the lower screen.
15. Players then each tap "OK" near the top right corner of the lower screen.
16. In tournament mode, the host taps "OK" (near the top right corner of the lower screen) to begin.
Game Controls / How To Play
1. Select a starting location: Drag the character left or right with the stylus or press left or right on the direction pad.
2. Select a power: Drag the character back/forward with the stylus (without lifting the stylus) or press down/up on the direction pad (without letting go of the firection pad).
3. Launch: Lift the stylus from the screen or release the direction pad.
4. Steer (while moving): Touch to the left or right of the character or press left or right on the direction pad.
What To Look For
1. On the upper screen, your score card will be displayed across the top edge of the screen.
2. On the upper screen, the host's current score will be displayed near the top right corner, beneath the score card (the host can see their own bonus points).
3. On the upper screen, the guests' current scores will be displayed near the top right corner, beneath the hosts's current score (players can see their own bonus points).
4. On the upper screen, a diagram of which pins are still standing will be displayed in the top right corner (pins still standing are yellow).
5. On the upper screen, the lane is displayed on the bottom half of the screen.
6. On the lower screen, the character and the launch band are displayed.
Overall Goals
1. Outscore your opponent.
2. Score a personal best score.
