Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. When "Press The A Button To Start" appears on the lower screen, the host presses the "A" button or taps anywhere on the lower screen.
4. If this is the first time the game has been played, the profiles will appear empty and one will have to be created.
4a. To create a profile, the host taps on an empty profile (any).
4b. The default name will be the name of Nintendo DS system the game is in.
4c. To delete one or more characters, tap on the back arrow in the top right corner of the on-screen keyboard.
4d. To enter a character, tap on that charaacter on the on-screen keyboard.
4e. To switch between standard characters and additional characters, tap the key to the left of the on-screen space bar.
4f. To keep the profile name as it is currently shown on the upper screen, tap the check mark in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
5. If a profile exists, tap on the desired profile (to switch between profiles, tap the green arrows on the left and right sides of the lower screen).
Downloading
1. The host taps "Multiplayer" (the third option from the top).
2. The host taps "Single-Card Play" (the bottom option).
3. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
4. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
5. When the graphic bar appears saying "Planet 51: The Game", the guests tap on it.
6. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
7. When the host's DS says that all guests trying to connect are connected and the check mark apears in the bottom right corner of the lower screen, the host taps the check mark.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1. The host selects the location list by pressing left or right on the Direction Pad.
NOTE: The choices are Constuction Site, Baseball Stadium, and Gas Station.
2. To add a location on the screen to the list (of three), the host taps the check mark in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
3. Players then select their vehicle by pressing left or right on the Direction Pad.
3a. To use the vehicle shown on the screen, the host taps the check mark in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
3b. The choices are Battle Convertible, Battle Sports, Battle Wagon, and Military 4x4
3c. The top detail bar indicates the vehicle's speed.
3d. The middle detail bar indicates the vehicle's steering.
3e. The bottom detail bar indicates the vehicle's endurance and durability.
3f. Different players cannot use the same vehicle type.
4. The host selects the number of cumputer opponents by tapping on the left and right arrows bordering the top option bar.
NOTE: The choices are 0, 1, 2 (default), 3, or 4.
5. The host selects the time limit by tapping on the left and right arrows bordering the middle option bar.
NOTE: The choices are 60, 90, 120 (default), and OFF.
6. The host selects whether or not the vehicles should be equal in effect by tapping on the left and right arrows bordering the bottom option bar.
NOTE: The choices are ON and OFF (default).
7. When these options are set, the host taps the check mark in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
Game Controls / How To Play
1. Accelerate: Press the "A" button.
2. Brake/Reverse: Press the "B" button.
3. Steer: Press up/left/right on the Direction Pad.
4. Swerve left: Press the "L" button.
5. Swerve right: Press the "R" button.
What To Look For
1. On the upper screen, the action is shown.
1. On the upper screen, the countdown timer is in the top left corner.
1. On the upper screen, the Paranoia Meter is shown in the top right corner.
1. On the upper screen, the radar is in the bottom left corner.
1. On the upper screen, your current speed in in the bottom right corner.
1. On the lower screen, the current point totals are shown.
1. On the lower screen, your point total is always at the top of the list.
Overall Goals
1. Earn points by damaging other vehicles.
2. Disable other vehicles by doing more damage than they can take.
3. Survive and don't get hit.
