Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. When "Press START or touch to start" appears on the lower screen, the host taps the button on the lower screen or presses the Start button.
4. If this is the first time the game is being played, a save file must be created...
4a. The host will see four bars: "Slot 1", "Slot 2", "Slot 3", and "Options" ("Slot 1" will be highlighted in green).
4b. The host taps "Slot 1" (or another slot of their choice).
4c. The host taps a gender (male or female).
4d. The host selects an outfit design by tapping the left and right arrows next to the design bar at the top of the lower screen.
4e. The host taps a primary outfit color on the large color selector in the center of the lower screen.
4f. The host taps a secondary outfit color on the small color line at the bottom of the lower screen.
4g. The host taps the helmet icon on the right.
4h. The host selects a headgear design by tapping the left and right arrows next to the design bar at the top of the lower screen.
4i. The host taps a primary headgear color on the large color selector in the center of the lower screen.
4j. The host taps the face icon on the right.
4k. The host selects a facial look by tapping the left and right arrows next to the design bar at the top of the lower screen.
4l. The host taps a skintone on the skintone color bar near the top center of the lower screen.
4m. The host taps an eye color on the Eye Color bar near the center of the lower screen.
4n. The host taps a voice from the two options near the bottom center of the lower screen.
4o. The host taps the green check mark in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
4p. The host selects a vehicle type by tapping the left and right arrows next to the design bar at the top of the lower screen.
4q. The host taps a primary vehicle color on the large color selector in the center of the lower screen.
4r. The host taps the hood icon on the right (the second icon from the top on the right).
4s. The host selects a hood style by tapping the left and right arrows next to the design bar at the top of the lower screen.
4t. The host taps a specialty hood color (for applicable hood types) on the large color selector in the center of the lower screen.
4u. The host taps the spoiler icon on the right (the third icon from the top on the right).
4v. The host selects a spoiler style by tapping the left and right arrows next to the design bar at the top of the lower screen.
4w. The host taps a spoiler color (for applicable hood types) on the large color selector in the center of the lower screen.
4x. The host taps the tire icon on the right (the bottom icon from the top on the right).
4y. The host selects a tire style by tapping the left and right arrows next to the design bar at the top of the lower screen.
4z. The host taps the green check mark in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
4aa. The host enters a profile name by tapping on the on-screen keyboard.
4bb. When the name is entered as desired, the host taps the green check mark in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
5. If the game has been played before, the host taps on the desired profile.
Downloading
1. The host taps "Multiplayer" (the bottom option) twice (or once, and then taps the green check mark in the bottom right corner).
2. The host taps "Single-Card Play" (the middle option) twice (or once, and then taps the green check mark in the bottom right corner).
3. The host taps "Send game data" (the only option).
4. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
5. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
6. When the graphic bar appears saying "MySims Racing", the guests tap on it.
7. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
8. When the host's DS says that all guests trying to connect are connected, the host taps "Start" in the center of the screen.
9. When both players' names appear on the lower screen, the host taps the green check mark in the bottom right corner.
NOTE: At some point, the connect will time out if the green check mark is not tapped.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1. When the names leave the screen, "MySims Raceway" will be displayed on the upper screen.
2. The host taps the green check mark in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
Game Controls / How To Play
1. Steer: Press up, down, left, or right on the Direction pad.
2. Accelerate: Press the "A" button.
3. Brake/Reverse: Press the "B" button.
4. Hop/Powerslide: Press the "R" button.
5. Obtain a power-up item: Drive throuigh one of the floating wrapped presents.
6. Use a power-up item: Press the "L" button.
7. Throw a power-up item ahead: Press up on the direction pad when pressing the "L" button.
8. Throw a power-up item behind: Press down on the direction pad when pressing the "L" button.
9. Look Back: Press the "Y" button.
10. Pause: Press the Start button.
What To Look For
1. On the upper screen, the race is shown.
2. On the upper screen, your current rank is displayed in the top right corner.
3. On the upper screen, your current time is displayed in the bottom right corner.
4. On the upper screen, your current lap number is displayed in the bottom left corner.
5. On the upper screen, your current boost meter level is displayed along the left side of the screen.
6. On the upper screen, power-up items appear as floating wrapped presents.
7. On the lower screen, the racetrack map is shown.
Overall Goals
2. Use power-up items to make the race more difficult for your opponent.
