Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
Downloading
1. The host taps on "Share Demo" (the bottom option).
2. The guest will power on their Nintendo DS system (only one guest can download the demo at a time).
3. The guest taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
4. When the graphic bar appears saying "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa", the guest taps on it.
5. The guest's DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes". The demo will begin downloading automatically.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
(There are no selectable features or options.)
Game Controls / How To Play
1. All Characters: Move - Press left or right on the direction pad.
2. All Characters: Pause - Close the Nintendo DS system.
3. All Characters: Switching Characters - To switch between the characters, tap on the picture of the character you want to switch to on the lower screen.
4. All Characters: Ladders - Press up or down on the direction pad.
5. All Characters: Switches - Walk up to any switch that is within reach and at head-height and press any non-shoulder button ("A" or "B" or "X" or "Y").
NOTE: Switches can also be hit with fish; see below.
6. All Characters: Tunnel - Press any non-shoulder button ("A" or "B" or "X" or "Y") to crawl through an already-dug-out out tunnel (see below).
7. Rico: Dig - While standing on/by a mound of dirt, press any non-shoulder button ("A" or "B" or "X" or "Y") to dig out a tunnel.
8. Private: Throw A Fish Head Forward - Press any non-shoulder button ("A" or "B" or "X" or "Y") to throw a fish head in the direction Private is facing.
9. Private: Throw A Fish Head Straight Up - While holding up on the direction pad, press any non-shoulder button ("A" or "B" or "X" or "Y").
10. Kowalski: Jump - Press any non-shoulder button ("A" or "B" or "X" or "Y") to jump; press left or right while jumping to jump left or right.
What To Look For
1. On the upper screen, the playing field is displayed.
2. On the upper screen, the countdown clock is located in the top right corner.
3. On the upper screen, floating icons will move around the edges of the screen indicating the locations of the other penguins relative to the current penguin.
4. On the lower screen, the penguin switching "buttons" are displayed.
5. ON the lower screen, the penguin that is currently selected will have their "button" encircled and will have their name displayed.
Overall Goals
1. Complete the demo level.
2. Clock in with as little a time as possible.
