Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. When the train in the opening cinematic film exits the tunnel, the host taps anywhere on the lower screen.
4. When "Touch the screen!" appears on the lower screen, the host taps anywhere on the lower screen again.
5. If this is the first time the game has been played, the game will automatically create a save file.
5a. When "File created." appears on the lower screen, the host taps the white area at the bottom of the lower screen.
5b. The host taps either "New Game!" slot.
5c. The host enters a name for that save slot by tapping the characters on the on-screen keyboard.
5d. The default name will be the name of the Nintendo DS system the game's in (up to eight characters).
5e. To erase a character, tap the green "back" arrow near the top right corner of the on-screen keyboard.
5f. To switch to alternate characters, tap one of the brown buttons above the on-screen keyboard.
5g. When the name is entered exactly as desire, the host taps the "OK" button that appears in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
5h. To confirm the name, the host taps the "Yes" button.
5i. The host declares which hand they hold the stylus with by tapping the "Right" button or "Left" button.
5j. To confirm the chosen hand, the host taps the "Yes" button.
5k. When "Save complete." appears on the lower screen, the host taps the white area at the bottom of the lower screen.
6. The host taps on the gamesave of their choice by tapping on it and then tapping on the on-screen "Start" button.
Downloading
1. The host taps on the purple "Battle" bar (the second bar from the top).
2. The host taps on the green "Create Group" bar (the top bar).
3. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
4. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
5. When the graphic bar appears saying "Zelda: Spirit Tracks", the guests tap on it.
6. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
7. When the host's DS says that all guests trying to connect are connected, the host taps "Close Room" along the bottom edge of the lower screen.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1. The host selects a battle arena by tapping on their choice.
2. When the desired battle arena has been selected, the host taps "Start" along the bottom edge of the lower screen.
Game Controls / How To Play
1. Players move around using the touch screen.
2. When a player touches the touch screen with a stylus, Link will move in the general direction of the stylus.
3. The further away from Link the stylus is, the faster Link will move.
4. To pick up Force Gems (yellow triangles), just walk into/through them.
5. To quickly roll forward, double tap the touch screen in the direction of the roll.
6. To open up some of the pits, step on a Pitfall Switch by walking onto it.
7. When the glowing Battle Mode Wheel appears, run into it to pick it up and acquire a random benefit.
What To Look For
1. On the upper screen, the map is displayed.
2. On the upper screen, Force Gems are displayed on the map as yellow triangles.
3. On the upper screen, Pitfall Switches are displayed on the map as yellow squares.
4. On the upper screen, Players are displayed on the map as Link faces outlined in their color.
5. On the upper screen, Phantoms are displayed on the map as Phantom-shaped masks.
6. On the upper screen, the direction Phantoms are looking in is displayed asa wide red beam coming off of the Phantom masks.
7. On the upper screen, each player's name (and current Force Gem count) is displayed in one the corners or the screen.
8. On the lower screen, the battle area is shown (from a Bird's-Eye View).
9. On the lower screen, each player's name and current Force Gem count is shown above their character.
10. On the lower screen, Force Gems are the yellow triangles that float just slightly above the ground.
11. On the lower screen, Pitfall Switches are yellow squares embedded in the ground.
Overall Goals
1. Collect the most Force Gems.
