Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. If this is the first time the game is played, it will automatically create a save file prior to loading.
4. When "PRESS START" appears on the lower screen, the host taps anywhere on the lower screen or presses the Start button.
Downloading
1. From the main menu, the host selects "Group Sub-Games" (in the bottom left corner) or "2-P Spring Breeze" (in the bottom right corner).
1a. Group Sub-Games: Minigames that can be played with two to four players.
1b. 2-P Spring Breeze: Two-player, co-op adventuring through Spring Breeze where the guest controlls the helper (if present).
2. To play "Group Sub-Games"...
2a. The host taps "Group Sub-Games" in the bottom left corner of the lower screen.
2b. The host taps "Create Room" near the center of the screen.
3. If the host selects "2-P Spring Breeze" (in the bottom right corner of the lower screen)...
3a. The host taps "2-P Spring Breeze" in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
3b. The host taps "Go To Room Setup" across the bottom of the lower screen.
3c. The host taps "Create Room" near the center of the screen.
4. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
5. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
6. When the graphic bar appears saying "Kirby Super Star Ultra", the guests tap on it.
7. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
8. When the host's DS says that all guests trying to connect are connected, the host taps "PLAY NOW" near the bottom center of the lower screen.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1a. The host selects one of the following games by tapping on the game's name on the lower screen: Kirby Card Swipe, Kirby On The Draw, or Snack Tracks.
1b. After selecting the game, the host selects the game's difficulty level by tapping the selected level along the bottom edge of the lower screen.
2a. The host presses the "A" button to begin the game
NOTE: The host can press start to skip past the opening cinematic sequence.
2b. The game will ask, "First time playing Kirby Super Star Ultra?"
2c. If a player is unfamiliar with the game's controls, the host can tap "First Time!" to have the host's Nintendo DS system demonstrate the game's controls.
NOTE: During the tutorial, the guest's Nintendo DS system can be closed to conserve battery life.
2d. If both players are familiar with the controls of the game, the host can tap "Played Before."
2e. If "Played Before." was selected, the game will ask "Would you like to view a tutroial about how to use helpers?"
2f. If a player is unfamiliar with the game's helper controls, the host can tap "Yes, please!" to have the host's Nintendo DS system demonstrate the game's controls.
NOTE: During the tutorial, the guest's Nintendo DS system can be closed to conserve battery life.
2g. If "No, thanks." was selected, the game will begin.
Game Controls / How To Play
1. Group Sub-Games: Kirby Card Swipe
1a. A number of cards will appear on the lower screen.
1b. The doors on the upper screen will close.
1c. The cards on the lower screen will be revealed.
1d. The doors on the upper screen will reopen, revealing a card.
1e. Tap the matching card on the lower screen.
1f. The first player to reach three points wins.
2. Group Sub-Games: Kirby On The Draw
2a. Target will appear in the shooting range.
2b. Shoot the targets by tapping them to earn points.
2c. Don't shoot the bombs; cause cause you to lose points.
2d. When you're out of ammo, reload by tapping the ammo bar along the bottom edge of the screen.
3. Group Sub-Games: Snack Tracks
3a. As the food comes toward your Kirby and onto the lower screen, watch for rocks, bugs, and bombs.
3b. Tap rocks, bugs, and bombs to remove them or send them into another Kirby's lane
4a. Kirby & Helper - Jump: Press the "A" button.
4b. Kirby & Helper - Float/Fly: Press the "A" button repeatedly.
4c. Kirby & Helper - Dash (run quickly): Press left (or right) on the direction pad twice in quickly.
4d. Kirby & Helper - Slide: Press the "A" button (or the "Y" button) and down on the direction pad to slide in the direction you're facing.
4e. Kirby & Helper - Block/guard: Press the "L" button (or the "R" button).
4f. Kirby - Inhale an enemy: Press the "B" button.
4g. Kirby - Spit an enemy out: Press the "B" button after inhaling an enemy.
4h. Kirby - Swallow an enemy: Press the "X" button after inhaling an enemy.
4i. Kirby - Gain an enemy's abilities: Swallow an enemy whose abilites can be copied.
4j. Kirby & Helper - Use an enemy's abilities: Press the "B" button after gaining an enemy's abilities.
4k. Kirby - Recruit a Helper: Press the "X" button after gaining an enemy's abilities.
4l. Kirby - Dismiss a Helper: Press the "X" button while standing next to a Helper and not having any enemy's abilites.
4m. Kirby - Discard enemy abilities: Press the "X" button after a Helper has been created.
What To Look For
1. Group Sub-Games: Kirby Card Swipe
1a. On the upper screen, the card that needs to be matched will be revealed.
1b. On the upper screen, the current level is shown in the top left corner.
1c. On the upper screen, the current scores are shown across the bottom edge of the screen.
1d. On the lower screen, the cards to select from are in the playing field.
2. Group Sub-Games: Kirby On The Draw
2a. On the upper screen, the current level is shown in the top left corner.
2b. On the upper screen, the countdown time is shown in the top center of the screen.
2c. On the upper screen, the current scores are shown across the bottom edge of the screen.
2d. On the lower screen, the targets will appear all over the screen.
2e. On the lower screen, the ammo reload bad is across the bottom edge of the screen.
2f. On the lower screen, your Kirby's current score is also shown in the bottom left corner, next to the ammo reload bar.
3. Group Sub-Games: Snack Tracks
3a. On the upper screen, the countdown time is shown in the top center of the screen.
3b. On the upper screen, the current level is shown in the center of the screen.
3c. On the upper screen, the current scores are shown across the bottom of the screen.
3d. On the lower screen, the tracks appear vertically across the screen.
4a. On the upper screen, the stage is displayed and the action is shown.
4b. On the lower screen, Kirby's status/type and health are in the box in the top left corner.
4c. On the lower screen, the Helper's status/type and health (if applicable) are in the box in the top right corner.
4d. On the lower screen, the number of lives Kirby has left are shown beneath the box showing Kirby's status/type and health.
4e. On the lower screen, the current score is displayed beneath the box showing the Helper's status/type and health.
4f. On the lower screen, the current stage name/number is displayed in the bottom left corner.
4g. On the lower screen, the current game name is displayed in the bottom right corner.
Overall Goals
1. Group Sub-Games / Kirby Card Swipe: Select the correct cards.
2. Group Sub-Games / Kirby Card Swipe: Achieve the highest score.
3. Group Sub-Games / Kirby On The Draw: Shoot the targets.
4. Group Sub-Games / Kirby On The Draw: Avoif the bombs.
5. Group Sub-Games / Kirby On The Draw: Achieve the highest score.
6. Group Sub-Games / Snack Tracks: Avoid the rocks, bugs, and bombs.
7. Group Sub-Games / Snack Tracks: Achieve the highest score.
8. 2-P Spring Breeze: Complete all four stages.
9. 2-P Spring Breeze: Defeat King Dedede.
