Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. The host selects an existing profile or "Guest" by tapping the left and right arrows under "Select Player" and then taps "Done" in the bottom right corner.
4. If a profile doesn't exist & the host wishes to create a profile (for the purpose of unlocking abilities later), the host taps on "Create Player" (the middle option.
4a. The host creates a profile name by tapping on the letters of their choice (up to six).
4b. When the profile name is entered as desired, the host taps "Done" in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
4c. The host chooses their profile avatar by tapping the left and right arrows on the left and right edges of the screen.
4d. When the host has found an avatar they like and the avatar is highlighted in the center of the screen, the host taps "Donw" in the bottom right corner.
Setting Up The Download
1. The host taps "Wireless Play" (the second option from the top).
2. The host taps "DS Download Play" (the bottom option).
3. The host taps on the game of their choice (Connect 4, Bop It!, Battleship, or Operation).
NOTE: The host can also tap on the trophy to see all available unlockable spots and how to unlock them.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1. The host selects whether Superweapons are on or off by tapping the arrows to the left and right of "Superweapons Off" in the middle of the screen.
NOTE: If Superweapons are set to On, the game wil occasionally provide shots that will hit in more than one square at a time (selected or random).
2. The host selects the number of rounds by tapping the arrows to the left and right of "1 Round" near the bottom of the lower screen.
NOTE: The choices are 1 Round, Best of 3, and Best of 5.
3. The host taps "Play Original" at the top of the lower screen.
4. The host selects the location to play by tapping on any unlocked location (any location that is not a padlock).
5. The host then taps "Done" in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
1. The host selects the Shout It option by tapping the arrows to the left and right of "Shout It Gesture" (the choices are Shout It Gesture and Shout It Vocal)
1a. "Shout It Gesture" means a gesture must be performed when the game instructs a player to "Shout It" as a command.
1b. "Shout It Vocal" is .
2. The host taps "Play Classic" at the top of the lower screen.
3. The host selects the location to play by tapping on any unlocked location (any location that is not a padlock).
4. The game will remind the host to have the volume turned all the way up. The host taps "OK" at the bottom of the lower screen.
5. The host then taps "Done" in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
1. The host selects the game length by tapping the arrows to the left and right of "Short Game" (the choices are Short Game, Medium Game, and Long Game)
1a. A "Short Game" is played one round per game.
1b. A "Medium Game" is played as a best-of-three (the first player to two wins is the victor).
1c. A "Long Game" is played as a best-of-five (the first player to three wins is the victor).
2. The host taps "Play Original" at the top of the lower screen.
3. The host selects the location to play by tapping on any unlocked location (any location that is not a padlock).
4. The host then taps "Done" in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
1. The host selects the game mode/difficulty by tapping the arrows to the left and right of "Training Mode" in the middle of the screen.
NOTE: The options are Training Mode, Normal Mode, and Expert Mode.
2. The host taps "Play Original" at the top of the lower screen.
3. The host selects the location to play by tapping on any unlocked location (any location that is not a padlock).
4. The host then taps "Done" in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
Downloading
1. The guest will power on their Nintendo DS system.
2. The guest taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
3. When the graphic bar appears saying "Family Game Night", the guests tap on it.
4. The guest's DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
5. When the host's DS says that the correct guest is connected, the host taps "Done" in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
Game Controls / How To Play
1. Players begin by placing their ships on the board.
1a. The ships will begin in random locations.
1b. To move a ship, touch it with the stylus and drag it (without lifting the stylus from the screen) to a new location.
1c. To rotate a ship, tap it with the stylus.
1d. For a new random placement pattern, tap the green circle by "Auto Deploy" along the left side of the lower screen.
1e. To accept the current layout, tap the red circle by "Confirm" along the right side of the lower screen.
2. Each turn, target any location on the board by tapping that spot on their lower screen.
3. To confirm that spot, tap the red circle by "Confirm" on the right side of the lower screen.
4. To undo the targeting of that spot, tap the spot again.
5. A spot that was successfully hit will show up as flames (a still floating ship) or as a ship (if the ship was sunk).
6. A spot that was shot at and missed is represented by a green "X" mark.
1. The host will go first, and the players will then take turns, staying in as long as they don't make a mistake.
2. When the game says "Bop It": Tap the circle in the center (with the bop it logo) in the center of the Bop It! device.
3. When the game says "Twist It": Draw a line across the yellow twist in the top right corner of the Bop It! device.
4. When the game says "Shout It" (Shout It Gesture mode) : Draw a line diagonally down to the left across the green knob at the top of the Bop It! device.
4. When the game says "Shout It" (Shout It Vocal mode) : Make any audible sound into the Nintendo DS system microphone.
5. When the game says "Pull It": Draw a line diagonally down to the left starting at the blue knob in the bottom right corner of the Bop It! device.
1. A chip will appear above one of the columns.
2. Touch the stylus to the chip and drag it left and right to move it to other columns.
3. Touch the stylus to the chip and drag it downward to drop it into the column.
4. When four chips of the same color are place in a row - horizontally, vertically, or diagonally - the game is over.
1. Touch the stylus to the item.
2. Drag the item (move the stylus without lifting the stylus from the screen) through the pathway to the end without hitting a wall or nodule.
What To Look For
1. On the upper screen, the players' names and scores are shown in the top right corner of the screen.
2. On the upper screen, the player whose turn it is will have their name highlighted in orange.
3. On the lower screen, the battlefield is shown.
4. On the lower screen, players will see a record of the shots they have taken and whether they've hit or missed (on their turn).
5. On the lower screen, players will see their own ship and where their opponent has shot and either hit or missed (on their opponent's turn).
6. On the lower screen, players will see the status of their opponent's ships (green = floating / red = sunk) onn the left edge of the screen.
7. On the lower screen, the type of shot being shot will show up near the top right corner of the screen on their turn (when Superweapons = on).
1. On the upper screen, the players' names and scores are shown in the top right corner of the screen.
2. On the upper screen, the player whose turn it is will have their name highlighted in orange.
3. On the lower screen, the Bop It! device is displayed.
4. On the lower screen, the Bop It part of the Bop It! device is in the very center of the device.
5. On the lower screen, the Twist It part of the Bop It! device is in the top right corner of the device.
6. On the lower screen, the Shout It part of the Bop It! device is in the top center of the device (or is spoken into the microphone; see above).
7. On the lower screen, the Pull It part of the Bop It! device is in the bottom right corner of the device.
1. On the upper screen, the players' names are shown in the top right corner of the screen.
2. On the upper screen, the player whose turn it is will have their name highlighted in orange.
3. On the lower screen, the playing board is displayed.
4. On the lower screen, the remaining chips for the host are on the left edge of the screen.
5. On the lower screen, the remaining chips for the guest are on the right edge of the screen.
1. On the upper screen, the players' names are shown in the top right corner of the screen.
2. On the upper screen, the player whose turn it is will have their name highlighted in orange.
3. On the lower screen, the internal organ pathway is displayed.
4. On the lower screen, the patient's face is in the top right corner.
Overall Goals
1. Sink all of your opponents' ships.
2. Place your ships well enough that they will survive.
1. Accurately follow every command.
2. Keep up with the speed of the commands and don't fall behind.
1. Get four chips placed in a row - horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
2. Prevent your opponent from getting four chips placed in a row.
1. Get the item through the pathway without hitting a wall or nodule.
2. Complete the task before your opponent.
