Basic Setup
1. With the power off, the host loads the game cartridge into their Nintendo DS system.
2. The host powers their system on, then taps on the "Warning" screen and then on the graphic for the game.
3. When the story begins displaying, the host can tap the lower screen to skip it if they choose.
4. When "Press Star" appears on the lower screen, the host can tap anywhere on the lower screen or press the start button to gain access to the main menu.
Downloading
1. The host taps on "Multiplayer" (the second option from the top) twice.
2. The host taps on "Host" (the top option).
3. The guest(s) will power on their Nintendo DS system.
4. The guest(s) tap on the "Warning" screen and then on the "DS Download Play" button.
5. When the graphic bar appears saying "Arkanoid DS", the guests tap on it.
6. The guests' DS systems will ask "Would you like to download this software? Tap "Yes".
7. When the host's DS says that all guests trying to connect are connected, the host taps the check mark in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
Game/Feature/Options Selection
1. The host will select the rule for the win condition by tapping on the blinking green arrows that appear when the rule choice is highlighted in blue.
NOTE: The choices are Bust All (the default) or Bust Color.
2. The host will select the difficulty by tapping on the blinking green arrows that appear when the difficulty choice is highlighted in blue.
NOTE: The choices are Easy, Normal (the default), or Hard.
3. When both options are set, the host taps the check mark in the bottom right corner of the lower screen.
4. All players select their control choice by tapping on the blinking green arrows that appear when the control choice is highlighted in blue.
NOTE: The choices are Stylus (the default) or +Control Pad.
5. When all players are set, they tap the check mark in the bottom right corner of their lower screen.
6. The host will select the barrier strength by tapping on the blinking green arrows that appear when the current strength level is highlighted in blue.
NOTE: The choices are 0, 1, 2, 3 (the default), 4, or 5.
7. The host will select the handicap by tapping on the blinking green arrows that appear when the current handicap choice is highlighted in blue.
NOTE: The choices are Easy, Normal (the default), or Hard.
8. When all players are set, they tap the check mark in the bottom right corner of their lower screen.
Game Controls / How To Play
1. Move the paddle: Drag the paddle left or right with the stylus.
2. Release the ball: Press down on the direction pad, press the "B" button, or tap the lower screen outside the play field.
3. Shoot a laser (if available): Press down on the direction pad, press the "B" button, or tap the lower screen outside the play field.
4. Catch the items: move the paddle so that any part of it comes in contact with a falling item.
"+Control Pad" Game Controls
1. Move the paddle: Press left or right on the direction pad.
2. Release the ball: Press down on the direction pad or press the "B" button.
3. Shoot a laser (if available): Press down on the direction pad or press the "B" button.
4. Catch the items: move the paddle so that any part of it comes in contact with a falling items.
5. Speed up the paddle: press the "L" or "R" button (to double its speed) or press the "L" and "R" buttons together (for quadruple speed).
What To Look For
1. On both screens, the playing field is in the center.
2. On the lower screen, the paddle moves along the bottom edge of the play field.
3. On the lower screen, the other players' play fields are displayed along the left side.
4. On the lower screen, the number of normal (breakable) blocks remaining is displayed in the top right corner.
5. On the lower screen, the current barrier strength is displayed in the bottom right corner.
Overall Goals
2. Outlast all opponents.
3. Complete the level first.
